Ganeshguri sits at the heart of Guwahati, right next to Dispur, the state capital, on the Guwahati–Shillong (GS) Road. Christianbasti, Bhangagarh, Kahilipara, Hengrabari and Survey are all within a kilometre or two, and Dispur College is a short walk away. It’s a favourite with families, for the shopping, the markets and how well connected it is, and because, unlike many parts of the city, Ganeshguri doesn’t get waterlogged. Only the stretch towards Survey, before Beltola, collects a little water on very heavy rain days.
Daily life is easy here. There’s a large vegetable market and a separate market for clothes, Vishal Mega Mart, and the big brand stores within one to two kilometres. Builders’ and online platforms’ offices and large showrooms like Khadim’s are all within walking distance. The Ganesh Mandir near GS Road draws big crowds at puja time and on Ganesh Chaturthi, when you’ll find every puja item and local essential right here.
Evenings are lively, with Novotel and Vivanta close by, clubs, and plenty of places for a family dinner, from high-end restaurants to traditional Assamese food at Mising Kitchen and Rabha Kitchen. One practical tip: traffic builds from Dispur between 6 and 8 pm, so allow an extra 45 minutes if you’re driving through Ganeshguri or Dispur then.
Ganeshguri is one of the city’s more expensive areas. A 2 BHK typically starts from ₹20,000 a month and a 3 BHK from ₹27,000; a good semi-furnished flat with amenities in a newer apartment is usually around ₹30,000. NHOMES has managed homes in Ganeshguri for five years, including five flats at Punya Enclave, a gated community with three blocks, and G+2 buildings we’ve looked after for four years.
